Inspiring Young Readers

An Interview with Priya Gupta
The Letterpress Project has asked authors and illustrators to think about what has inspired them as artists, what their favourite books are and how they relate to their audience - we've also asked them if they themselves are book collectors.
We are delighted to present an exclusive interview with children's book illustrator and designer, Priya Gupta. Priya is an illustrator and accessory designer based in New York, originally from India. Art has always been her compass, and design is her passion. Her creative journey is driven by a deep love for storytelling, inspired by life’s simple joys, travel adventures, and the vibrant individuals she has encountered along the way.
Priya brings a rich cultural perspective and a global sensibility to her work. By day, she is a professional accessory designer crafting stylish, functional pieces, and by night, she transforms into an illustrator bringing whimsical stories to life—living a double creative life she truly cherishes.
She specializes in children’s book illustrations, digital art, traditional acrylic painting, and book covers—capturing life’s vibrancy through color and imagination. Whether she’s designing an accessory or illustrating a narrative, every project is an opportunity for Priya to explore new creative horizons. She remains curious, passionate, and always ready to embrace fresh challenges that expand the boundaries of her craft.
