Inspiring Young Readers

Leah’s Star by Margaret Bateson-Hill, illustrated by Karin Littlewood

We really enjoyed reading this splendid picture book written and illustrated by two of our favourites.

I loved the way that it presented an unusual tender angle on the traditional Nativity story. I was also impressed that all the characters and the scenery looked authentic.

My six year old grand daughter immediately noticed that Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus and Leah all had dark skin and hair. She asked about the Bethlehem buildings and why they didn’t look like the ones in her many other Christmas books - a good question that encouraged us to look up the real place.

This is what she had to say about it - click on the photograph below to be very impressed with her original beautiful writing and spelling:

‘ I give it 10/10. How many do you give it?

I liked it when Leah holded the baby.

Which one is your favourite?'

I give it 10/10 as well and I also liked the same illustrations  - good taste obviously runs in families.

If you can’t find it easily in a bookshop you can order from the Alanna Max website. We both strongly recommend that you get hold of your own copy immediately!

Happy Christmas 2020
