The Three-Eared Rabbit by Rosie Taylor (aged 10)

(Rosie Taylor is aged 10 and she likes reading the Railway Rabbits series by Georgie Adams. She likes lego and ice cream. This year she tried mint chocolate chip for the first time.)

The Three-Eared Rabbit

It was a normal day in Bunborough – too normal. Who ever thought a three-eared rabbit would arrive on a day like today? Well, that was exactly what happened.

In a pretty house, Mrs. and Mr. Bun were delighted to hear a knock at their door. They opened the door, and there was a little homeless baby bunny on their doorstep. “Oh,” they cried, and unwrapped the note: “Her name is Honey.” That was all it said. When they unwrapped her blanket, they found out that SHE HAD THREE EARS!

They took her in and Honey loved them and was happy.

A few years later, she had to go to school. She had no choice but to. With a gulp, Honey walked to school. She was quivering with fear.

It was worse than she had dreamed. The bullying was terrible. ”Your ears are silly, haha!” Or “Oh your ears, they are horrible!” The only bunny that did not bully her was Sweetie, who became her friend. Sweetie understood why Honey felt so upset, because she was a rabbit with a difference too. She was a pink bunny unlike any other.

One night Sweetie and Honey had a sleepover. If you were standing outside you would hear giggles, the squeaks of fun and spooky rabbit tales: “Once upon a time,” Or “And brewed up a storm,” and sounds of laughter. They had midnight feasts.

When it came to bedtime, Sweetie went to sleep right away but Honey could not. “Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!” Sweetie went, “zzzzzzz” and “zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.” But Honey was wide awake with worry; it was now past midnight but outside there was a bright golden star. Honey wished upon the gold shooting star and wished she wasn’t bullied any more. But nothing happened. She eventually snoozed.

In the morning, Sweetie woke up. She rubbed her eyes and looked at her friend. She was astonished and couldn’t believe her eyes. Honey was a BUNNICORN, a cross between a bunny and a unicorn! Sweetie instantly woke up Honey, “YOUR THIRD EAR IS A HORN! YOU MUST BE MAGICAL!”

Honey zoomed downstairs and told her mummy and daddy, Mr. and Mrs. Bun, the great      news. Mr. and Mrs. Bun were very happy, and gave her pancakes for breakfast, because they knew that all Bunnicorns love pancakes.

Now she had magical powers, no one ever dared bully her again. She made lots of new friends at school like the Hamster Twins, Red and Sandwich.

She was famous, in lots of newspapers and on TV. But she did not care because she was happy, and that of course was the most important thing.

The End!
