An Interview With Ali Sparkes

The Letterpress Project has asked authors and illustrators to think about what has inspired them as artists, what their favourite books are and how they relate to their audience - we've also asked them if they themselves are book collectors.

We are delighted to present an interview with the children's author, Ali Sparkes. Ali is the Blue Peter Award winning author of Frozen In Time and 43 other titles for children and young adults. A former newspaper reporter and BBC broadcast journalist, she wrote comedy for BBC Radio 4 before getting her first book - The Shapeshifter: Finding The Fox – published by Oxford in 2006.  More than a decade later, her 43rd book, Night Speakers, was published by Oxford in March 2018. And in July number 44 - her first YA thriller, Death By Detention was published by Coven.

Ali lives in Southampton and has two sons, one husband and a bonkers labradoodle called Willow.

Ali has her own website that can be found here
