Sam the Stupendous Storyteller by Denise Hayes
Denise says:
This is the first chapter of an unpublished book I wrote as a eighth birthday present for my daughter Katie many years ago. I’ve changed the main character’s name from Harry (for obvious reasons) and updated it a little but the key elements are the same. I had fun writing this and used the names of Katie and her brother and friends for key characters. We also knew a very sweet and funny springer spaniel called Jeremy!
