Lulling a child to sleep by reading them a bedtime story is a wonderful thing. It's likely something we experienced ourselves during childhood and used on our own offspring later in life. But why should this ritual be used only on children?
Sleep technology brand Simba want to reignite the bedtime story for adults, after their research found that, as a nightly activity, it can improve our sleep and rest.
Cognitive neuropsychologist, Dr David Lewis, found that the act of reading reduces our stress levels by 68%. It does so by focusing the mind, distracting us from stressful thoughts, releasing muscle tension and lowering heart rate.
